Specialized Langster NY

I've never had a Specialized and for some reason I've never wanted one. However, this is a cool looking single speed. Some might not like the paint job but I give it a thumbs up! Read the article here from BikeRadar.

Lance Armstrong has announced his intention to race the 2009 Tour de France

Check out the article here at VeloNews. Wow, I'm really surprised that he said he is going to ride in support of Alberto Contador in the Tour and he plans on winning the Giro instead. If he does that my repect for him is a lot higher now.

Lance Armstrong winning on the Col du Tourmalet

Here's the man himself in his 5th attempt at winning the Tour De France. This was the defining moment or stage of the 2003 Tour De France where Lance had just seconds over Jan Ulrich and was about to loose the yellow jersey. There were also a handful of other great riders that had a close enough time margin to put him in jeopardy. I remember Vinokurof, Mayo, and Hamilton being in front all trying to take the lead. This is the last climb of a stage that was over 100 miles in length. This climb is the infamous Col du Tourmalet which is the highest climb in the Pyrenees. In this clip you'll see how a real champion reacts when the chips are down and it looks like all is lost. There are several cyclist trying to escape with the lead and Lance has to counter all of them. Then Iban Mayo in the orange jersey makes a move and Lance follows. Suddenly Lance is taken down by accidentally catching his handlebars on something a spectator is holding. Does he panic, does he give up, no! He gets up, gets back on the bike, chases and catches the lead group. Then he makes a move to escape and races to the finish winning the stage and basically closing the door on any chances from the competition. Check it out here on YouTube.

It was worth another post!

La Ruta de los Conquistadores stage one report

Check out the article here at VeloNews. The article is good but let me just say that Roberto Heras is racing the off road tour. He rode for Lance Armstrong is 3 of his 7 Tour De France wins and to quote Phil Legit he was worth his weight in gold in all the Alps mountainous stages. He's the rider wearing the Giant jersey in one of the pictures.

La Ruta de los Conquistadores. Let the punishment begin!

La Ruta de los Conquistadores has got to be the toughest mountain bike race in the world. Check out the official website here. It starts this November 12 and ends November 15 and it races 250-miles from Costa Rica’s Pacific to Caribbean coasts. In the words of one of last years racers, its nothing short of physical suffering and crazed frustration, flat tires, bug bites, muddy drive trains and long hikes through the jungle. Here's a few shots from the race. Some of the looks on the riders faces tell a lot. You can see Tinker Juarez with the dreadlocks in some of the shots. You know when a pro racer like him who has won numerous 24 hour off road world championships is hurting it has to be tough.

Results from the 2008 Outback Classic!

Now that would be a fun race! Check out the final story from VeloNews. Here's a link from VeloNews with stage results, pictures, and details. Check out a few pictures from the race.
